A Star Is Born, Susan Boyle

Sometimes the most unassuming become inspirations. We forget that sometimes the most ordinary people, and even the folks we least expect it from, emerge in life with extarordinary talent and inspriation.

In Europe there is a popular television show with Simon from American Idol on it called "Britain's Got Talent." Two years ago I remember seeing a video from an episode where a chunky fellow who worked in a video store came onstage (to the snickers of the audience and the judges), and knocked everyone socks off with an amazing operatic performance. His name is Paul Potts, and folks never expected to be amazed like that again by such an unexpected individual.

Inspiration has struck again. This time, in the person of a 47-year-old, somewhat frumpy woman from Scotland, Susan Boyle. The audience and the judges are practically laughing at her as her time to perform approaches, unknowing of the treat, and lesson in humility, that is about to happen. By the end of the video I was in tears. Accomplishment by the underdog is always inspiring, but this story really packs an emotional punch. Watch the judge's and audience's reaction before she sings, their reactions as she is singing, and their words after the performance is complete. Go to this video of Britain's Got Talent to experience the unexpected delight.
